BRIDGE COURSE:
Bridge courses are classes that give you information from a basic course, to prepare you for a more advanced course, thus bridging between the basic and advanced courses. Prerequisites are foundational courses from your field of study, often at an undergraduate level, and often do not count toward graduation.

GUEST LECTURES:

  • Introduction to Molecular Modeling by Ganga Periyasamy, Department of Chemistry, Bangalore University, Bangalore
  • “Surfactants, Polymers and Surface Chemistry” by Dr. Rupak Kar, Scientist, Rallis India Limited
  • “Functional Materials for Science and Technology of Invisibility” by Dr. Yelamaggad, Centre for Nano and Soft matter sciences (CeNS)
  • Let’s Explore Molecular Docking’ by Dr. Kamatchi.C and, Mr. VivekKashyap, Department of Biotechnology, TOCS.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS:

  • II year M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) students visited “IndianWood Science and Technology (IWST)”. During the visit, the students with academic background have a glimpse of the industry in order to have a better appreciation of practical applications of theory.
  • The Department of Chemistry organized an industrial visit for B.Sc. students to “Karnataka Soaps & Detergents Ltd
  • M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) students visited “Poorna Prajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR)”. The objective of this visit was to make the students aware about the practical knowledge on principle, working and operation of instruments like High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), InfraRed spectrometer (IR), Gas Chromatography (GC), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), BET surface area, x-ray diffraction and UV-Visible spectrophotometry.
  • The Department of Chemistry organized an industrial visit for B. Sc. Students to “Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Ltd.”

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS:

  • Dr. Venkatesh, Post-Doctoral Fellow (Prof. Balaram group), IISc., Bangalore delivered a special lecture on “How to clear CSIR-NET” The aim is prepare students for entrance examinations related to CSIR- by using innovative tricks & techniques.
  • Department organized an Enrichment Program on “Stoichiometric Calculations” for PG students. The program included the demonstration of a reaction table which included the calculations of moles, mole ratio of the reactants, concept of limiting reagent and yield calculations.
